This month Kangaroo Kids will celebrate Week of the Young Child!
The Week of the Young Child is April 10-16. This is an annual celebration sponsored by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), the world’s largest early childhood education association, with nearly 100,000 members. This year Week of the Young Child 2021 is “Celebrating it’s 50th Anniversary as Kangaroo Kids celebrates their 30th Anniversary.” Make it a special week with your child! Kangaroo Kids has many wonderful activities planned to celebrate this week:
Monday – Music Monday!
Children at Kangaroo Kids will be listening to music, playing music and even making their own musical instruments. We also invite parents to join us virtually by sending us a short video of you playing an instrument or singing a song with your family. We would love to share your musical talents with your child’s class.
Tuesday – Tasty Tuesday!
Today the children will be encouraged to learn about good nutrition and the importance being active! We will be having lots of fitness fun and sport activities. Please be sure to send in a healthy snack for your child! We will be discussing the benefits of good nutrition and exercise! It’s a good week to go on a family walk in the evening!
Wednesday – Work Together Wednesday!
Today the children will be given a number of fun options including a treasure hunt, relays, or bubble blowing! They will have an opportunity to work together in the garden and play some cooperative games like parachute activities. Play is where learning begins, and these fun activities will enhance Gross Motor ability, Literacy readiness, team building, cooperation and Social skills!
Thursday – Artsy Thursday!
Join us for some messy fun as we set the children up to paint outside, finger paint, and learn about famous artists!
Friday – Family Friday, Ice Cream Social, & Spirit Day!
Come to school in your Kangaroo Kids T-Shirt to show your Kangaroo Kids spirit!
Who wouldn’t like concocting their very own Ice Cream Sundae? We will provide an individual cup of ice cream or an individually wrapped ice pop for each child.
We welcome and encourage parents or grandparents to join us virtually during this week. You can send us a video of you reading a short story to your child’s class, completing a craft project, singing a song, or teaching the children about a hobby you enjoy! Today we know more than ever about the importance of children’s earliest years in shaping their learning and development.
